As summer is coming soon and so is the start of our experiment of trying out both Vertfreak101 and Vertical Mastery and reporting our daily workouts, diet, and recovery habits on the site in our vertical jump training logs, we have some updates regarding progress on setting up the competition.
Firstly, due to the structure of the programs, I (Mike) will be doing Vertfreak101 while my coauthor will be working with the Vertical Mastery program. There seems to be a larger time commitment with the Vertfreak 101 program and more weights involved. I have full access to all the weights I will need at my house, so I am set in that aspect, and also have more time available. While my coauthor has full access to weights, we decided it just works best this way and are both excited to complete our respective vertical jump programs.
As stated earlier we have both been working on leaning up by dropping fat while keeping as much lean body mass as possible. This is going well for me, and I have also talked to my coauthor and he seems to be doing well too. We have also been working on our conditioning and leg strength. My two footed dunking is getting better and better all the time (it has always been my weakness) and my running one foot dunks just plain too easy. These are both palming the ball with one hand, I still struggle with two handed dunks which is mainly just poor jumping technique and a lack of proper driving strength. My coauthor told me he is dunking better than ever too, so we are both hitting our stride just in time.
Within the next 7-10 days we will be performing the testing and logging of all of the measurements we deem to be important to this experiment, as well as the necessary info needed to place us into the two programs. This will take a few hours, but we are looking forward to getting going on this. After we complete this we will start the programs one week later, as we want to be completely fresh when we begin.
So keep checking back to the site, especially in the next week or so when we will hopefully have some pictures and videos uploaded of various aspects of the competition like our vertical jump and reach measuring, us dunking, body composition, etc.
