About the Author Kelley Baggett:

Testing

Now you have already read over 40 pages of the information regarding both general information about the vertical jump, as well as the specific science behind it.  Now it is time to figure out how to train specifically for you!  Kelley Baggett has designed a specific testing program to place you exactly where you need to be to increase your vertical jump.  Some will need to focus on speed and explosion, others power output and general strength.  Some will need a little bit of both.  Mr. Baggett has designed a testing program to place you directly into the specific program you need to isolate the weaknesses in your vertical jump and turn them into strengths, thereby increasing your vertical.

The Power Vertical Review



Jay Bryce's Power Vertical Program is a 73 page ebook that has been around for years now, helping athletes all over increase their vertical jump.  Based on a combination of plyometric training and resistance training, Power Vertical tries to encompass all of the factors that go into vertical jump training in order to add inches to you leaping ability.  With a reasonable price tag and solid set up, athletes who are just getting into vertical jump training should seriously consider Power Vertical as an option for a vertical jump program.



Here is What You Will Receive With Power Vertical

After purchasing and downloading the Power Vertical program you will need to open it on your computer.  You will need to enter the password that was given to you upon purchase in order to access the program.  Power Vertical is over seventy pages long, and is broken down into a couple key sections which we will go over here in our Power Vertical review.

Vertical Jump Science

The first thing talked about in Power Vertical is the science behind vertical jumping, and how the program plans to use this to improve your vertical.  Many athletes jump right into vertical jump training without learning what they are doing and how it applies to them increasing their ability to jump high.  The science of strength, speed, plyometrics, and a couple of other things are the center points of this section of Power Vertical that aims to educate you on the various reasons behind their training principles.

Vertical Jump Training

This is where Power Vertical begins to transition towards the vertical jump program itself, but before diving in, they cover a few important topics, such as the importance of warming up and cooling down, equipment and environment, classification of jumping style, and prerequisites of training.  These are all essentially factors that will be important to your training and the results you receive from using the Power Vertical program.  Make sure you read this section of the ebook over thoroughly and make sure that you understand all of these elements.  You will want to make sure that you meet all of the training requirements and that you have the proper equipment and training areas aligned so that you can complete the Power Vertical workouts with maximum effectiveness.

The Power Vertical Program

Finally, after all of the necessary information contained in the first half of the Power Vertical ebook, we get to what we came for, the vertical jump program itself.  Power Vertical is based on a four day a week workout schedule with two of those being weighted resistance training and the other two being plyometric workouts.  There are four different versions of the plyometric program, broken down in difficulty levels of JV, Varsity, College, and Pro.  It is recommended that you start at the JV level and move up to the higher levels as you go.  Each program lasts only four weeks, after which point you should rest to make sure your legs and body are fully ready to either move up a level or start the last level over again.

The Power Vertical Exercises

Now that you know the Power Vertical program and its basic structure, the ebook goes on to cover all of the exercises contained within and gives detailed descriptions, as well as pictures, to help you learn how to do the exercises in case there is any confusion.

Recovery, Safety, and FAQs

A consistent theme brought up in Power Vertical is the importance of recovery.  Make no mistake, recovery is often more important than the training itself, and without proper recovery don't expect to make the gains you are hoping for.  Recovery is essential to all types of training, not just vertical jump training, and hence should be made a priority and not be ignored.  Another important aspect of vertical jump training that is often overlooked that absolutely must not be is safety while training.  Ignoring safety while training can lead to injuries that will set you back weeks, months, or potentially even years.  You have purchased Power Vertical to increase your leaping ability, so don't make the mistake of not practicing safe training and hurt your gains that you are about to make.  The last thing contained in the Power Vertical program is a set of ten frequently asked questions that the author goes over in order to clear up some of the common questions many users of Power Vertical have come up with in order to help you along your way with using the program.

Our Power Vertical Review

Power Vertical is a pretty basic, yet very effective and useful vertical jump program.  It does a good job of breaking down training into weighted resistance training to improve strength and plyometric training to improve speed and explosiveness.  Power Vertical would be a great program for those athletes who are fit and have some training background, but are not yet physically developed enough to take on a more complex vertical jump program.  If you would consider your vertical jump to be relatively average or even small, lets say 25 inches or less, Power Vertical would be a great place to start.  I will do a great job of adding a substantial amount of inches to your jumping ability, and gear you up to a place where you can tackle a more advanced vertical jump training program in the future.

Jump Experts is a lot different than all of the other vertical jump programs we talk about here on Vertical Jump Explosion.  In fact, one could argue that it isn't even a vertical jump program at all.  A more accurate way of describing Jump Experts would be to call it an information resource for vertical jumpers, athletes, coaches, and trainers alike.  It would be unfair to compare Jump Experts against programs such as the Jump Manual, Vertfreak101, and others.  Therefore, we are deciding to review Jump Experts in a seperate category of its own. 

About the Author Virgil Aponte

Virgil Aponte grew up with a passion for sports, which caused him to pursue a career in strength and conditioning training later in life.  Since then, Virgil has had the oppurtunity to work with the strength and conditioning staffs of multiple professional sports, including major league baseball and the WNBA.  He says that his main mission is to give and share his knowledge of fitness and health with those around him and to help others acheive their goals.
What Exactly is Jump Experts

As we stated earlier, to call Jump Experts a flat out vertical jump program would be simply wrong.  A better term to categorize Jump Experts would be to call it a "vertical jump information resource".  That is because Jump Experts is not a program in itself, but rather a collection of reports and audio interviews with almost twenty of the leading experts in vertical jump training today.  Jump Experts boasts that it has over 440 pages worth of reports on vertical jumping and over 7 hours of audio with piorneers in vertical jump training.  There is so much information that you can learn from here that it is truly shocking when you first receive Jump Experts.  We will break down our review into three pieces: the special reports, the programs, and the audio interviews.

The Special Reports

There are over 20 special reports written by vertical jump training experts contained within Jump Experts.  The topics cover a wide range of areas, ranging from vertical jump training as a whole to specific aspects of training such as diet, stretching, kettleball training, stair exercises, and much more.  Each expert has written one or two of these special reports, and put a lot of time and effort into the final product we end up reading here.  If you end up purchasing Jump Experts we would highly recommend that you read all of these special reports, because the information contained in them will undoubtedly help you to acheive far greater results using any program than you would have if you had never read them.

The Programs

There are several jumping programs scattered throughout the special reports section of Jump Experts that you can try.  These were designed and written by experts in vertical jump training and would be worth a shot if you so choose.  However, we do not think that the programs contained within Jump Experts are the strength of its content.  If you are purchasing Jump Experts it will serve you best as a learning device and a treasure chest of vertical jump information, but more on that later.  Basically, we would recommend an outside program for your actual vertical jump training.

The Audio Interviews

This was probably the most interesting part of Jump Experts for us here at Vertical Jump Explosion.  It was interesting to hear some of the thoughts and opinions of many of the authors of the other elite vertical jump programs all in one place and on audio recording to top that.  Some of the experts that appear on these audio interviews include Kelley Bagget of the Vertical Jump Developmental Bible, Jacob Hiller of the Jump Manual, Adam Linkenauger of Vertfreak 101, and more than ten others who are noted experts in vertical jump training.  Each interview is a recorded phone call between Virgil Aponte and the special guest.  There doesn't seem to be a specific pattern or outline for these interviews, as each takes a different path.  All we can tell you is that there are hours worth of audio conversations between professional vertical jump trainers that you will not want to miss!

Vertical Jump Explosion's Thoughts on Jump Experts

You will notice that we are not assigning a numerical score to Jump Experts.  That is simply because there is nothing similar to it on the market right now.  It is a unique product which the author Virgil Aponte described to us in an email as a "collaboration of vertical jump training information".  With this many professionals on the subject of vertical jumping working together to create one product, you know it is going to be good.  Jump Experts can serve many purposes, such as:
  • a information supplement to athletes
  • athletes using Jump Experts in conjuction with other vertical jump programs
  • athletes performing the actual programs within Jump Experts
  • use by coaches to learn how to properly and effectively train their players
  • trainers, strength coaches, etc
  • anyone can learn A LOT from Jump Experts
As far as the use of Jump Experts by individual athletes goes, we would recommend purchasing it along with another vertical jump program and reading Jump Experts first, before you start the vertical jump program.  Learn all about the vertical jump and how to properly train it first.  This is, of course, optional.  All of the programs recommended by this site are great just the way they are.  However, if you have some extra money to spend and are really motivated to increase your vertical jump, it will not hurt you to check out Jump Experts, along with one of the higher rated vertical jump programs such as the Jump Manual or Vertfreak101.

A Review of the Vertical Explosion Training Program

The Vertical Explosion Training Program is a 25 page ebook that goes over some of the basics of gaining vertical.  Along with the actual ebook itself, you will also receive bonuses that include guides on boosting your metabolism, sports nutrition, and four different training logs so that you can track your workouts.  We will give a brief overview of the Vertical Explosion Training Program in the following paragraphs.

Vertical Explosions Approach To Training Vertical

To start off, the Vertical Explosion Training Program goes over a couple of precautions that will help you prevent injury while working on your vertical jump.  You can't reach the full potential of you vertical jump if you are constantly injured and not 100% athletically.    The program takes a multi faceted approach to training vertical leap, and works with you to help you effectively training all of the muscle groups involved in vertical jumping.  Along with training all of the necessary muscles involved in the vertical leap, Vertical Explosion also helps you to distinguish the difference between training fast and slow twitch muscle fibers.  This can be the difference between adding a great amount to your vertical leap or seeing very modest results, so read this section carefully.  The final thing talk about before diving into the specifics of the program is the importance of body composition when it comes to your ability to jump high.  Poor body composition can greatly negate your efforts while training your vertical jump, so it is important to make sure that your body composition is in check while training vertical jump.

Vertical Explosion Training Programs Workouts

The Vertical Explosion Training Program is ran in a three days a week format, which makes it a great program for anyone who doesn't have a whole lot of time to devote to vertical jump training.  There are optional exercises that you can do on your off days, but they are not necessary (the author recommends performing them unless you are absolutely too sore).  After going through this, the rest of the Vertical Explosion Training Program ebook simply goes over all of the exercises and exactly how to perform each one effectively, as well as a quick section regarding what to do postworkout.  We don't want to give away too much about the Vertical Explosion Training Program's specific vertical jump workouts and exercises, so you will have to check out their website to learn more.

The Bonuses

Besides the training logs, the Vertical Explosion Training Program comes with two main bonuses, a sixty page ebook on the topic of sports nutrition for vertical jumpers and a ten page guide on boosting your metabolism.  Both of these bonuses are brief, yet good reads none the less.  There is some good information on metabolism and sports nutrition respectively, and it would be worth your time to browse through both of them. 

Our Vertical Explosion Training Program Review

The Vertical Explosion Training Program is not extremely complex and it does not waste time filling your brain with pages after pages of information on the art of vertical jumping and all the specifics behind it.  It is very brief and gets straight to the point, telling you only the bare essentials of what you need to do, according to the program, to increase your vertical jump.  We think there are more advanced vertical jump programs on the market, as well as others that offer much more information for the athlete to absorb.  That being said, there are a couple of types that may find that the Vertical Explosion Training Program suits them well.  We think that Vertical Explosion would be a good program for beginners in vertical jump training, athletes who do not have more than a couple of days a week to train/limited training time, and finally those who want a simple program that doesn't go over the top with pages after pages after pages of information on vertical jumping.  More or less, Vertical Explosion isn't the best program out there necessarily, but it will work for some people.  Don't hesitate to check it out if you think it sounds like you could benefit from using the Vertical Explosion Training Program.
